The African proverb, "it takes a village to raise a child" has taken on special meaning for Le bibble® founder, Michelle Cloney. While an expectant single mother, it was important to Michelle that her daughter have a true sense of family. This meant moving from Los Angeles and setting down roots in her hometown of Reston, Virginia with little idea of what would happen next. Moved by the amount of love, support and encouragement she received from family and friends during this transitional period, Michelle has made it a priority to help those who lack the support they need when having a child.

By purchasing Le bibble®, you and your little one have become members of le village, the global Le bibble® family helping those who need it most. A portion of all  proceeds and products are donated to moms and babies in need through the le village project™. Before launching, Le bibble® created a partnership with Homestretch, Virginia’s largest charity that empowers homeless families to attain permanent housing and self-sufficiency by giving them the skills, knowledge and hope they need to become productive participants in the community. Over 90% of Homestretch families are women, over half being victim of domestic violence, and the average age of a Homestretch participant : 8 years old.

The le village project™ mission: to turn the transitional housing units provided by Homestretch into places to call home. Knowing firsthand how important it is for these families to feel safe, secure and stable while getting back on their feet,  Michelle, who is a certified professional home stager (ASP), volunteers with a group of 8 stager/stylists to decorate and stage the units to feel like mini-safe havens for the families during this transitional period.

The Anaya Initiative

Baby Anaya was diagnosed in May 2010 with Infantile Krabbe Leukodystrophy. She first started showing symptoms in February of 2010 at the age of 4 months. Anaya is now 23 ½ months. This rare disease causes demyelination in the brain due to lack of a specific enzyme required to produce myelin. The outlook for kids with Krabbe is bleak. In most cases a baby diagnosed with infantile Krabbe will develop normally for a few months and then lose their motor skills, the ability to hold their heads up, the ability to smile, laugh or speak, followed by loss of sight and hearing. Seizures may or may not occur and average life expectancy is less than 2 years.

Anaya's mother, Camara, keeps a detailed blog about life with a Krabbe baby that thousands of people find inspiring to read. Over the past year since Anaya became ill she gained some skills and lost them. She is fed through a G- tube and is now blind. She struggles mostly with excessive mucous production in her throat which sometimes blocks her airway. She requires special care and equipment, without which life would be uncomfortable for her.

We, at Le bibble, along with donating 10% of all sales to The Anaya Initiative, are dedicated to spreading Anaya’s story as far and wide as possible in hopes of bringing in support, donations, love and healing to this beautiful family.
