The inspiration for the cupcake vase came from my school days in New Zealand:
As a class project we would create ‘sand saucers’ which were plates filled with sand and water and then covered with short-stemmed flowers. Each child would show up with a bag of flowers from their garden. The way children pick flowers, they were always short stemmed. The 'sand saucers' were so much fun and first prize at the school gala was always hotly contested. This cute cupcake vase is our version of that popular craft project.
